About us
The idea behind Leech began many years ago on a fly-fishing trip to Bosnia, where experienced anglers wore the first production eyewear from Leech. The crystal-clear waters of the Balkans make fish cautious, and to fish effectively and remove reflections from the water surface, high-quality polarized sunglasses are essential. After dinner at the fishing camp, we met other fly anglers. As they looked out over the river, it became clear that sunglass performance can vary greatly. They could not see half the fish in the pool. This was nothing new to us, as we had tried most brands, but for our new friends it was a remarkable experience. Sunglasses were tested and passed around the group, and soon everyone agreed that the pool was full of fish.
That experience marked the beginning of Leech’s continued development as a company, and the path toward designing and producing a wider range of polarized eyewear for a broader audience had begun.
Since launching in 2012, we have had an amazing journey. Today, we have improved vision on the water for anglers in more than 15 countries across 3 continents.
Leech Eyewear: Precision optics for anglers
Our story comes from a deep passion for fishing. Every lens and frame we make is inspired by one simple purpose: improving your vision and helping you catch more fish. Just as important is protecting your eyes from UV rays and hooks. At Leech Eyewear, we combine Scandinavian precision with design features appreciated by many anglers.
Design, performance and comfort
Beyond protecting your eyes, our main goal is to help you see better. We want you to spot hidden trout on cloudy days, stay focused without unnecessary fatigue on the brightest days at sea, and improve your vision during endless summer nights.
With state-of-the-art polarized lenses, we provide the clarity and contrast you need to master any fishing environment, from misty Nordic rivers to sunlit tropical seas.
Commitment to sustainability
We are as passionate about protecting our waters as we are about fishing them. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our production methods and materials, ensuring that we do our utmost to avoid unnecessary negative impact on our waters. We closely follow technological progress and use as many environmentally conscious materials as possible while maintaining the durability passionate anglers expect. Whether you are an experienced professional or a beginner, our eyewear is a reliable companion for your next adventure.
A look into the future
Marine habitats are under serious threat, and there is little point in wearing expensive, high-performance fishing eyewear if there is no life left in the water. Plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats to aquatic life. Starting with our 2020 collection, our frames are made from TR90 thermoplastic, a better choice than many other plastics and free from Bisphenol A. We use recyclable PET material for our cleaning cloths and pouches and work to minimize the use of plastic packaging materials.
